In July 2024, Professor George Elliott Clarke, as executive producer, led the release of Afro-Metis Nation’s second album, "Anthem," at Ken Whiteley's Toronto studio. The album features contributions from singer-songwriters Leonard "Sugar Plum" Croxen and Karen Ashton. Founded in 2016, the Afro-Metis Nation musical group highlights the 250-year heritage of Black-and-Indigenous people in Maritime Canada through original music.
Their first album, "Constitution," was released in 2019, earning Clarke, Croxen, and Shelley Hamilton a nomination for "Best Indigenous Songwriters" at the 2020 Canadian Folk Music Awards.
