Biography
Charlie Foran holds degrees from the University of Toronto and the University College, Dublin. He has published twelve books, including five novels. His fiction, non-fiction, and journalism have all won awards; his 2010 biography of Mordecai Richler *Mordecai: The Life and Times* won four major prizes. His most recent book, the philosophical memoir *Just Once, No More,* was named a Best Book of 2023 by the Globe and Mail.
Charlie has also written and presented radio and TV documentaries. As well, he has taught in China, Hong Kong and Canada, including courses in Irish Literature at the University of St. Michael's College. A past president of PEN Canada, he is a senior fellow at Massey College and a member of the Order of Canada. From 2020-2024 he was the Executive Director of Writers’ Trust of Canada.
