Elisa Vano has been awarded the Julia Reibetanz Prize for the Best Essay on Romantic Poetry for the essay titled “[Borrowed] from the eye”: The Tourist Gaze, Reading and Sentimentalizing Place, and Wordsworth’s “Tintern Abbey” written for Professor Alex Hernandez’s seminar, Critique + Affection (ENG485s). This paper connects Elisa's Summer Abroad experience at Tintern Abbey to both Romantic and modern tourism, advocating for literary tourism as an analytical and sentimental reading practice. It marks a significant full-circle moment in her academic journey.
Congratulations Elisa on this remarkable achievement!
